EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE BLOOD VESSEL ANASTOMOSIS
The author performed the end-to-end anastomosis of artery and transplantation of arterial and venous graft, using a modification of Murphy's meteod, on the carotid and femoral arteries of dogs and studied morphologically, functionally and pathohistologically. The results obtained are as follorws :
1) One of 8 cases of the end-to-end anastomosis, 9 of 23 cases of venous graft and 6 of 16 cases arterial graft were successfully done.
2) In venons graft series those which diameter of artery was over 3.5 mm and increased length of artery with the graft was over 16 mm, were all successful and in the arteriel graft series the former was over 3.5 mm and the latter was over 12 mm, namely it was cleared than it is neccessary to succeed on this method that the diameter of artery is greater and the tension is less.
3) Pathohistologically the anastomosis site was plattened with the granulation, the venous graft wall became similar to the arterial wall, though the elastic fibre was less. The intima disappeared temporally but gradually in the media the platt muscle fibre was slightly degenerated and increase of the fibrous tissue of the media and the adventitia was seen both in the venous and arterial graft wall.
4) In the photoelectric plethysmographic tracing of the arterial and venous graft, there was no definite difference on the dynamic of the blood stream postoperatively and 350 days after operation.
